Pay2Win Quest

Patch Notes

Balance changes, new purchasing opportunities, and occasional improvements to the decorative systems surrounding checkout. Revenue-impacting bugs receive priority.

Patch 1.0: Monetization Is Now Live

After extensive development, testing, and removal of every system that did not directly support the store, Pay2Win Quest is officially open.

Core Systems

  • The Global Leaderboard is now live. Rank is determined entirely by Victory Points, allowing players to skip the traditional burdens of time, extended gameplay, and skill.
  • Victory Points can be purchased directly at a transparent rate of $1 per 100 VP. We believe transparency builds trust, and trust improves conversion.
  • Every cosmetic purchase also awards VP, because looking better is critical on the road to victory.
  • Victory Points never expire. Your rank may still fall when other players demonstrate a greater commitment to winning.

Player Expression

  • Characters, profile backgrounds, equipment, badges, and ribbons are now available for purchase.
  • Players can assemble a custom loadout for display on the Leaderboard, ensuring everyone can see exactly how seriously they have taken this.
  • Multiple visual genres are available, allowing players to express their individuality through a carefully standardized catalog.
  • Parties! Invite up to 3 of your financially irresponsible friends to compete on the party leaderboard.

Limited* Launch Content

  • The Founder Ribbon is now available.
  • Marked Limited Edition*. See the asterisk in the Shop for what that actually means around here.
  • We considered rewarding early players with gratitude. We settled for selling them a ribbon instead -- no countdown, no cap, just an option.

Features Removed Before Launch

The following systems were evaluated and determined to create unnecessary friction between the player and victory:

  • Combat, Exploration, Quests, Crafting, Matchmaking, Skill checks, Loss conditions, and any actual gameplay.

Known Items Frequently Reported as Issues

  • Free-to-play accounts remained at 0 VP indefinitely. (Free-to-play patched out before version 1.0)
  • Some players report that their rank falls when someone else spends more. This is the competitive experience.
  • Several users have described Pay2Win Quest as “just a store with a leaderboard.” However, they did not share any problems or issues.

Thank you for joining us at launch. Your support allows us to continue developing new characters, equipment, badges, ribbons, backgrounds, and other innovative reasons to complete another transaction.

Victory is purchased.
